The selected individuals will participate in building real solutions for our clients and will learn more about software development in a professional environment and Drupal.
The Technology Apprenticeship is a 6-month PAID adventure with the mission of equipping ambitious developers with a foundation of skills required to contribute on projects for some of the largest companies in the world. You'll spend 3-4 months training on the foundational skills required to be successful followed by actual software development work for our clients, specifically within Drupal. Not only will you see vision and conception turn into real results, but you will be a part of making it happen.

About The Job:
As stated above, this position has five primary components. Here is expanded information on each:
Developing WordPress Themes. Our design team will work to finalize a complete website design with the client. The files will then be sliced and prepared for coding. At that point, the person in this role will develop a WordPress child theme to apply the design and have it work with our parent framework. Typically the person in this role will be developing 1-2 themes per week.
Troubleshoot Theme and Plugin Issues. From time to time issues (speed performance, plugin compatibility) come up with a single website, or batch of websites, that require the knowledge of a developer to fix. Sometimes these issues are urgent, many times they are planned updates such as fixing issues that arise from WordPress version updates.
Assist Clients with Theme or Functionality Changes At times, clients request updates to their themes or website functionality that go beyond what our primary customer service person can do. As needed, the person in this role would work with our support person and client to discover their needs, propose solutions and implement the chosen option. Examples include updating the color theme to a website, or adding a plugin that allows for eSignature on Gravity Forms, or setting up a custom post type for a video library, or setting up a payment gateway.
Assist Helpdesk Staff During Busy Times. Most of the time, our helpdesk staff will be on the front line with client support requests. However, during busy times, or when they are out of the office, assistance by the person in this role will be needed to cover the gap and ensure that we are staying responsive to clients.
Helping Our Company With Internal Projects. There is no shortage of work to do! During time between client projects we are always looking to make improvements to our core framework and processes. In-house projects could include rolling out framework updates, updating older themes to remove depreciated code, documenting processes to help with training of other team members.
A Week In The Job May Look Like:

What you will be doing?
At Zappar we're building the next generation of content development tools for augmented, virtual and mixed reality. Central to this is our firm belief that the web will continue in its trajectory to become the one true application platform to rule them all.
We're on a mission to bring our computer vision algorithms to the platforms and development environments already used and loved by content developers. We support a number of popular 3D web libraries, including Three.js and Babylon.js, and you'll be helping us to enhance these tools to push the limits of what's possible. You'll also be instrumental in developing support for new and emerging content platforms going forward.
To better empower AR content developers, we build upon these platforms with visual 3D tooling, and content management and publishing infrastructure. You'll be helping us define, build and iterate on these brand new products.
Skills we are looking for:
We are looking for someone to join the team that is smart, inquisitive, ambitious, collaborative and humble. The right person will have a desire to help Zappar build upon the great work that has gone before, whilst contributing a fresh perspective based on their previous professional experience.

Checkout and build of our repositories for local development
Meeting with other key stakeholders at the company across Marketing, Sales, Customer Success and Learning & Support to understand the wider context of your work
For ongoing projects, attending meetings and providing ideas
Work on some self-contained tasks to get up-to-speed with our processes
Within 3 months: Tackling bigger tasks, such as new features
Working closely with the wider product team
Better understanding of our product set and who are the customers that we serve
Within 6 months: Working with the team on projects throughout the full development lifecycle
You're a voice of authority on what's possible with the technology in ideation and workshopping sessions

About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer who is excited about building features along our ambitious frontend roadmap. The role requires a person that is both experienced with software development, mostly building React.js based user interfaces. We are looking for someone who is keen to “get things done”, and can handle the responsibility of being a part of a fast growing startup, as well as having the ability to work independently and proactively. In this role you will be working as part of a diverse, energetic team, working in a remote setting from cities across Europe.
Build awesome interfaces for B2C and B2B users, in desktop and mobile web. Collaborate in growing the company's React.js codebase in a scalable way, that enables the growth plans of the company. Work within the tech team, but closely with operations and product teams as well, both for testing purposes as well as to have a clear grasp of the operational and business impact of the solutions you create. Deliver world class, tested and documented software code, that complies with security and privacy standards. Be an active stakeholder in software architecture discussions around the features you'll build. Be a proactive voice in proposing tools and processes that could make yourself and the team more efficient and productive. As Support Software Engineer, you'll be solving our customers most urgent problems and turning them into even bigger fans of SingleOps than they were before. You will be responsible for providing complex technical support for our most difficult issues and writing custom scripts for client requests.
